Souls to Deny is the first album by Suffocation after nine -year break, only the EP Despise the Sun appeared in the meantime.

Genesis

DaSuffocation when importing the album did not have a bass player, this task Mike Smith and Terrance Hobbs took over. Smith was after the Despise the sun -EP was recorded by Dave Culross, joined as a drummer again solid at Suffocation. For the album, the band got a record deal with Relapse Records, where in 1991 the EP Human Waste was published. For the song Surgery of Impalement a music video was produced. For the cover design, the band was able to regain Dan Seagrave.

The song To Weep Once More is a kind of sequel to Jesus Wept, a song of the debut EP Represents the song takes a critical look with the Christian faith.

Following the publication Suffocation launched in 2005, a headlining tour of the U.S.. In the opening act played, among others, Cryptopsy, Aborted and Despised Icon. In the summer of 2006, there were then another U.S. tour along with the U.S. band Shadows Fall. A small European tour during which the band also appeared as one of the headliners on the Up From The Ground Festival, Germany and some neighboring countries followed.

Versions

The album was released as a vinyl format in a limited edition of 100 pieces each in clear vinyl, 400 pieces in blue vinyl, 500 copies in white vinyl and 1,000 copies in conventional black vinyl.
