The Basketball South American Championship 1961, the nineteenth Basketball South American Championship, took place between the 20 th and April 30, 1961 held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which hosted the championship for the fourth time. Winner was the national team of Brazil, which was the third time in a row, win for the fifth time, the title.
