Southeast Arcadia is a census -designated place (CDP ) in DeSoto County in the U.S. state of Florida with 6,554 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Southeast Arcadia bordered to the north directly to the City of Arcadia and is located about 120 km southeast of Tampa. The CDP is from U.S. Highway 17 (SR 35 ) and the Florida State Roads 31 and 70 crosses or touches.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 6,554 inhabitants distributed to 2,327 households. The population density was 346.8 inh. / Km ². 55.5 % of the population were white, 4.9% African American, 0.6 % Native American and 0.5 % Asian Americans. 35.0% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.4% in different ethnic groups. 56.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 24.8 % of all households lived in 43.6 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 70.9 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 3.34 persons and the average family size is 3.58 people.

32.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 33.2% were 20-39 years old, 21.2% were 40-59 years old and 13.7 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 30 years. 56.4 % of the population were male and 43.6 % female.

The average annual income was $ 35,828, while 26.1 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 62.25 % of the population spoke Spanish and 37.75%.
