The Southern Illinois Airport ( IATA: MDH, ICAO: KMDH ) is an airport located in Jackson County in the south of the U.S. state of Illinois. It lies 8 km north- west of Carbondale and 8.3 kilometers east of Murphysboro, the county seat of Jackson County. The airport is owned by the Southern Illinois Airport Authority, a joint venture between the cities of Carbondale and Murphysboro and the Jackson County. The airport is used for general aviation in southern Illinois.
Location
The Southern Illinois Airport is located on the south bank of the Big Muddy River. This can be achieved, the airport on the U.S. Highway 51 and the Illinois State Route 13
