The Minsk was an aircraft carrier of the Soviet and later the Russian Navy from 1978 to 1993 she was the second ship of the series 1143 project. (NATO: Kiev - class ').

History

The Minsk was laid on December 28, 1972, Kiel, the launch took place on September 30, 1975 and the commissioning of the ship in 1978.

The Minsk operated in the Pacific Fleet. In the years 1981-1982 there was a repair. Due to a fire in 1989, the ship was practically no longer operational. Therefore, it was in February 1992, withdrawn from circulation and assigned to the reserve. The decommissioned on June 30, 1993.

The ship was sold on 14 November 1994, but the sale reversed. Instead, a contract for the scrapping of the vessel was closed on 1 August 1995 with a South Korean dismantling companies. The Minsk was towed to Kyang -yang in South Korea.

The South Korean company scrapped the armament, propulsion and communications systems. In 1998, a resale to the Chinese company Shenzhen Minsk Aircraft Carrier Industry Company. Condition of sale was a non-military use of the ship. In August 1998 the ship was towed to Shenzhen.

By February 2005, when the operator went bankrupt, the Minsk part of a military theme parks in Shatoujiao, Shenzhen in China's Guangdong Province of Minsk World was said. The aircraft carrier was then announced on 22 March 2006 auction. After no bidder was who wanted the 128 million RMB ( about 16 million U.S. dollars ) to pay starting price, the auction has ended. On 31 May 2006 the ship for 128 million RMB was sold to the city of Shenzhen.
