Spring and Autumn Annals

The Spring and Autumn Annals (Chinese春秋, Pinyin Chunqiu, less common is Chinese麟 经, Pinyin Linjing, kor. 춘추 Chunchu ) are one of the Five Classics, which are attributed to Confucius.

However, it is uncertain whether the work has actually been compiled by Confucius himself.

Later, the Chunqiu has been provided with extensive commentaries. The most important (because most influential ) is probably the comment of Zuo Qiuming. But the Gong Yang comment was influential because he imputed, Confucius did (sort of an ideal world ) is "hidden " in the Chunqiu the instructions for good governance.

In Hanshu five comments are enumerated:

  • Comment of Jia (夹 氏 传, Jiashi zhuan )
  • Comment Gong Yang (公羊 传, Yang Gong zhuan )
  • Comment Guliang (榖 梁 传, Guliang zhuan )
  • Comment Zuo (左氏 传, Zuoshi zhuan )
