Square D

The company McBride Manufacturing Founded in 1902, renamed in 1917 due to the visibility of the logo, a D in the square on the products in Square D. 1991 takes over the Groupe Schneider, the company and since 1999 Square D is listed as one of the three core brands of Schneider Electric.

History

Creation and development

Bryson D. Horton and James B. McCarthy founded in 1902 in Detroit, the company under the name McBride Manufacturing. 1908, the name was changed in Detroit Fuse and Manufacturing. The products with a D in the square, the logo marked, became more and more awareness, so that in 1917 the company name in Square D has been changed. First low-voltage switchgear were made later Square D has been renowned in the industrial control technology and the manufacture of circuit breakers under Westinghouse license. In 1935, the first own set of power switches has been presented.

Square D expanded very successfully, including to Peru, Los Angeles and Houston. 1948 were employed and operated ten plants in North America 7000 people. The company also produced half the power switches used in aircraft construction.
