Srby (Domažlice District)

Srby ( German Sirb ) is a municipality in Okres Domažlice in western Bohemia in the Czech Republic. The municipality has 386 inhabitants (2006) and covers an area of 20.45 km ². It lies approximately at an altitude of 385 meters above sea level, about 15 km north- west of the city Domažlice and 30 km drive from the German -Czech border.

History

The place Srby was first mentioned in 1312. The name of the place can be explained by the settlement of Serbs or Sorbs. Administratively formed Sirb from the mid-19th century, a municipality in the district court or in the district Hostau Bischofteinitz.

Community structure

The municipality has five districts which, in addition Srby even the places medna ( Meeden ) Polžice ( Pollschitz ) Roudná ( Rouden ) and Vítání ( Wittana ) belong.
