St. Dragon Girl

St. Dragon Girl (Japanese圣 ♥ ドラゴン ガール, Seinto Doragon Garu ) is a manga by Natsumi Matsumoto, which can be categorized into the shōjo genre, Magical Girl, Romance, comedy and action.

Action

St. Dragon Girl tells the story of 16 -year-old Momoka, who is a master in the martial arts, and her Chinese childhood friend, Ryuga, who comes from a family of magicians. St. Dragon Girl was published from October 1999 to March 2003 in the publishing house Shueisha. The first chapters were published until 2001 in the magazine Ribon Original, the later in the magazine Ribon. From February 2000 to April 2001, the manga was published in both magazines. The individual chapters were later also in eight tankōbon.

An English version was released by Viz Media in the USA. In Germany the number of September 2006 is fully published until March 2007 at Tokyopop, translated by Dagmar Seidel.

Continuation

The continuation Saint Dragon Girl Miracle (圣[セイント] ♡ ドラゴン ガール みらくる) appeared in June 2003 at the magazine Ribon. The series was also summarized into five anthologies. From March to November 2008, all volumes have been published in German at Tokyopop.

Reception

According to Christiane Corinth Splash comics manga is an interesting blend of fantasy, martial arts, comedy and romance, and lovable characters. The Chinese influences in the clothes and the numerous ghosts and dragons would give the manga a touch of mysticism. In this case, the pattern of action, however, would often repeat. Later, the plot flat from partially, but there is also again highlights.
