Servette FC Genève

The Stade de Genève is the main stadium of the Canton of Geneva and is located in the municipality of Lancy in the neighborhood La Praille on the former site of the local slaughterhouse. It is therefore also referred to Stade de la Praille.

The stadium has 30'084 seats and is the home stadium of the Super League clubs Servette FC Genève; The club previously played at the Stade des Charmilles. The stadium was inaugurated on 16 March 2003 with the Game Servette against Young Boys. The official opening took place on 30 April 2003 with a match between Switzerland and Italy, which lost the Swiss 1-2.

In addition, three games of the 2008 European Football Championships have been held in the stadium. Since Servette until now only in the second division of Switzerland played (Challenge League), the stadium was sold out so far in football only at the inauguration and international matches.

On January 11, 2014 with an ice hockey game was played at the stadium. In this case, the so-called Winter Classic HC Genève -Servette HC and the Lausanne played before 30,000 spectators in the open air against each other.
