The Stade de la Meinau is a football stadium in Strasbourg and has a capacity of 29,000 spectators.

History

As of 1906, the tree-lined square in the Jardin HAEMMERLE (German Hämmerle Garden ), a park in the city, used for football games. The FC Neudorf, predecessor club Racing Strasbourg, leased in 1914 for 300 Reichsmarks the terrain and created on a wooden stand. First, the site was also used by FC Franconia, which could be displaced by several court hearings from the site.

1921, the stadium was renovated and expanded for the first time. 1938 saw its first peak as a venue for the third World Cup. After the war again renovated, it served the club as the venue for its home games in Ligue 1, which belonged to the club several seasons. Another record crowd there was on September 3, 2011: The first home game of Racing Strasbourg in the League CFA 2 against Illzach Modenheim were 9,813 spectators. Never before had visited a fünftklassiges game so many people.

The stadium can be reached with one hand to train the connection Offenburg - Strasbourg train station Krimmeri - Meinau, or by tram Strasbourg, line A or E, stop Krimmeri Stade de la Meinau. Railway station and bus stop are only a few meters away from the stadium.
