The Stade Francis -Le Blé is a football stadium in Brest, Finistère department in Brittany (France). The Breton club Stade Brest here has their sporting home.

History

The stadium was opened in 1922 under the name Stade de l' Armoricaine with 1,800 seats. The stadium of the city was expanded to include a grandstand by the success of Stade Brest early 80s. In the summer of 1982 we opened this grandstand with 10,002 then courts ( 5,746 seats). In addition, the venue got its current name; named after the former mayor of Brest Francis Le Blé. The largest number of audience with 21 619 visitors was on 6 August 1986 at Stade Brest game against Olympique Marseille ( 0-0) in the stadium.

Due to the complete conversion into seats, the capacity of the arena was reduced to 10,228 seats. In 2004, Stade Brest rose to the Ligue 2. To meet the requirements of the French League Association and UEFA, the plan was to build a new stadium located in Guipavas, approximately ten kilometers north east of Brest. However, this was not implemented. On October 30, the club president Michel Guyot announced that by the end of the 2009/10 season, the stadium is to be extended.
