Village Church

Staitz was one belonging to a county municipality in the district Greiz in Thuringia. On 1 December 2011, she was part of the rural community Auma Weidatal.

The name " Staitz " probably comes from the Sorbian and is probably similar to the word " Stav " ( = pond). First records of the town on July 22, 1283, when Henry the Elder, Vogt of Weida, the monastery was a Cronschwitz purchased by Heinrich von Lohma interest in Staitz confirmed. Geography

History

In Staitz there were three mills:

On April 10, 1852, the town got a new seal. Not far from the town is the Weidatalsperre (built 1951-1956 ).

The center is located in the village center in the village square. It was formerly used as a school, then as a kindergarten and is now partly inhabited.

Before the construction of the dam were excavations for assurance and documentation of the castle, the so-called Fliehburg, which is recognized as a ground monument, performed. Until January 3, 1996 Staitz was a member of the administrative community Weidatal, the community then belonged to the administrative community Auma Weidatal. On 1 December 2011 joined the city Auma and the communities brown village, Göhren, Staitz and Wiebelsdorf for rural community Auma Weidatal together.

Culture and sights
