Brown village was a municipality in the district Greiz in Thuringia. On 1 December 2011, she was part of the rural community Auma Weidatal.

Geography

Brown village is situated near Auma, on the northern edge of the Thuringian Slate Mountains.

At Brown village belonged to the district of Tischendorf. Adjacent communities are Harth- Pöllnitz district Greiz and Mittelpöllnitz and the city Triptis in Saale-Orla -Kreis.

History

Formation

Brown village was first mentioned on January 8, 1441. The name originated from the name Bruno, as some bishops of the monastery Mildenfurth were called.

On an island in the northeast of the former Gutsteiches place stood a castle of the Lords of Pollnitz. It was probably built in the 16th century square with four corner towers. Remains of the system and examples of the moated castle. During the time the owner is often changed. Family Seydewitz was expropriated in 1945 according to the Potsdam Agreement. The castle was demolished down to the corner tower, was the infamous command base 209 of SMAD.

Until January 3rd, 1996 Braun village was a member of the administrative community Weidatal, the community then belonged to the administrative community Auma Weidatal. On 1 December 2011 joined the city Auma and the communities brown village, Göhren, Staitz and Wiebelsdorf for rural community Auma Weidatal together.
