Stajićevo ( Serbian Cyrillic Стајићево, Hungarian Óécska ) is a place in the Serbian Banat and belongs to the administrative area of the city Zrenjanin.
History
Stajićevo was founded in 1922 by settlers surrounding villages. The place name comes from the surname of an Orthodox priest named Stajić from the nearby Taraš, considered the founder of the town. By 1925 some 200 houses were built in which around one thousand people lived.
Demography
According to a census of 2002 living in the place Stajićevo 1599 adult individuals whose average age is 38.8 years ( 37.6 for male and 40 for female residents ). In 627 households average 3.19 people live. Statistics from 2002 show a Serb majority and a small drop in population.
