Stan Drake

Stanley Allen Drake ( born November 9, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York City; † March 10, 1997 in Norwalk, Connecticut) was an American cartoonist and illustrator.

Life and work

Drake, who was already active before and during his studies as an illustrator, visited from 1939, the Art Students League. In 1941, Drake went to the Army, but after the war, opened in 1946 along with Bob Lubbers and John Celardo his own studio. As 1953 King Features Syndicate was looking for a comic in the field soap opera, was produced in collaboration with the comic book writer Elliot Caplin the daily strip The Heart of Juliet Jones, which he held until 1989 and then handed over to Frank Bolle. From stories around the romantic and dramatic affairs of sisters Juliet and Eve were published under the title The heart of Julia Köster five books in Walter Lehning Verlag. From the early 1980s drew Drake for the French publisher Dargaud albums Kelly Green series, which was texted by Leonard Starr and some of the albums were released on the German publisher Carlsen. From 1984 until his death in 1997, drew the newspaper comic Blondie Drake.
