Stanislao Nievo

Stanislao Nievo (also Stanis Nievo; * June 30, 1928 in Milan, † July 13, 2006 in Rome ) was an Italian writer, poet, journalist and filmmaker.

Life

Nievo was the second of four children of his father Antonio, the owner of a button factory, and make Xavierine Nasalli Rocca. Significant cultural workers are found among his ancestors: väterlicherseite include Erasmo di Valvasone, Ciro di Pers, Ermes di Colloredo and Ippolito Nievo to maternal Joseph and Xavier de Maistre.

During the Great Depression in 1929 and the family fell into crisis and the family went to Borgo Montello in the Pontine plain. She remained there until 1946, but had some possessions in Rome and the Castle of Colloredo di Monte Albano as property.

After visiting the classical school and a degree in science Nievo traveled for a time through Central Europe and the North while he practiced in various activities, such as longshoremen, ship's boy, fruit pickers, metal workers and Italian teachers. Mid-1950s, he began as a rapporteur for the Giornale d' Italia, which over time was followed by further orders, so for la Repubblica (1976 ), La Stampa (1978), Il Tempo ( 1987-1990 ), L' Indipendente ( 1994) and for Il Giornale.

In addition Nievi wrote as an author several novels, short stories and poems; for this literary work, he has received several awards: the novels Il prato in fondo al mare and Le isole del Paradiso received the Premio Campiello 1975 respectively. 1987 Premio Strega. The expressiveness of his language was highlighted solar 2001, in his volumes of poetry Viaggio verde 1976, Canto di pietra from 1989 as well as his swan song Barca.

With translations of English authors, he added another chapter to his work; as he dealt with Kipling, Defoe and an anthology, E Dio Creo le grandi balene, in which he introduced literary disputes with whales. Between 1979 and 1985 Nievo also worked as a radio writer for the RAI; since the mid-1960s he also worked for the film: As a director of two works and in collaboration with Gualtiero Jacopetti as the organizer of the controversial works of the Mondo series.

Nievo sat down for the WWF and the Orgnanisation Foresta ideals a, initiated several years the Fondazione Ippolito Nievo and was creative director of "I Parchi Letterari ". In 2003 he received the "Premio Eugenio Montale " for travel journalism.
