Stanislav Varga

Stanislav Varga ( born October 8, 1972 in Lipany ) is a Slovak football player. At the moment he plays as a defender for Sunderland.

Club career

His professional career began Varga in Slovakia 1 FC Tatran Prešov, for whom he played from 1993 to 1998. He switched to Slovan Bratislava, from where he went to Sunderland in summer 2000.

He was loaned in the spring of 2002 for three months at West Bromwich Albion; in the period from March 2003 to August 2006 he played for Celtic, with whom he celebrated his greatest successes. Since September 2006, he again plays for Sunderland.

National

Since 1994, Varga plays in the Slovak national team and played more than 50 games.
