Stanisław Brzóska

Stanisław Brzóska ( born December 30, 1832 in Dokudów Pierwszy, † May 23 1865 in Sokołów Podlaski ) was a Polish Catholic priest who actively participated in the January Uprising of 1863 against the Tsarist Empire.

Life

Brzóska had been arrested for Polish- patriotic prayers and approached 1862 the conspirators for an uprising. After the outbreak of the January Uprising, he was chief chaplain of the insurgents in the rank of general.

Later he participated himself as a leader of a guerrilla unit in the fighting. After all the other groups had already been defeated, or the weapons had resigned, he fought until December 1864, and spread the Russian troops in various battles. He was eventually arrested and publicly executed by hanging.
