The Stapenberg is a 443.4 m above sea level. NN high mountain spur in resin at Benzingerode in the district of Harz, Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Stapenberg lies on the northern edge of the Harz Harz nature park / Saxony- Anhalt. It rises southwest of the hamlet Wernigeröder Benzingerode. To the north, its landscape falls in the northern Harz foreland.

History

The mountain was until 1470 owned by the knight Hans Knauth.

Viewing and hiking

The Stapenberg is known for its views of the Brocken and the northern Harz foreland between Wernigerode and Heimburg, which offers by logging in the summit region currently. Runs over the mountain spur, of Benzingerode coming, a steeply rising trail to Hermannsweg and further Wernigerode Castle or in the direction Elbingerode. On the spur summit is the stamp point 33 of the Harz hiking pin.
