Star One C3

Star One C3 is a geostationary communications satellite of the Brazilian satellite communications company Star One, a subsidiary of Embratel. He is said to partially take over the tasks of Brasilsat B3 and replace these at its previous position.

History

Star One C3 was launched on November 10, 2012 at 21:05 UTC clock together with the satellite Eutelsat 21B by an Ariane 5 ECA in a geosynchronous orbit and positioned at 75 degrees West. He will take over at that position the previous Brasilsat B3 and supply Brazil and the Andean region ( primarily Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador). For this he is with 28 active C-band transponders ( two 16 -for -14 TWTA Interconnected rings ), 16 Ku- band transponders ( two 10 -for -8 rings TWTA ) and two lateral antennas of 2.3 m or equipped 1.4 m in diameter. It was built on the basis of the STAR 2.4e - satellite bus ' Orbital Sciences Corporation and is designed for a service life of 16 years.
