Stare Kiejkuty, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Stare Kiejkuty ( German Alt Keykuth ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury. The place was known by the suspicion that there was a secret CIA prison here.

Geography

Geographical Location

Stare Kiejkuty located in northern Poland, about eight kilometers north of Szczytno. Southwest of the village is the lake Wałpusz, northeast of Jezioro Starokiejkuckie.

History

The first mention was made in 1391 or 1414. On September 4, 1929 Lorenz Salmund received the mill privilege and two hooves land from the commander in Elbing. 1615 includes the village of 27 hooves, eight of which were managed by farmers. Furthermore, it gave the village a mayor, one each Müller, Kruger and Beutner. 1632 the village grew to six hooves. At the beginning of the 18th century, a school was established. In the referendum in 1920 voted 297 to remain with Germany, Poland, there was no voice. At the end of the Second World War the town was occupied in 1945 by the Red Army, and came as a result of the war in Poland. When Stare Kiejkuty there is a training camp of the Polish Foreign Intelligence Service. 2002 to 2004 should have been held at the military base at Stare Kiejkuty the biggest secret prison of the CIA. The prisoners said to have been flown over the nearby airport Szczytno - Szymany.

Population Development

1785 lived 140 inhabitants in the village, 1910 416, 1933 223 and 1939 282 1939 there were in Old Keykuth massively built houses.

Economy and infrastructure

Leads through the village take the road 58 that leads through Szczytno and to the east by Ruciane -Nida in the south.

The nearby airport Szczytno - Szymany has been shut down since 2006. The nearest international airports are located about 180 kilometers northwest of Lech Walesa Airport Gdansk or about 130 kilometers located in the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast Kaliningrad Airport.

A rail connection does not exist.
