Stari Slankamen (Cyrillic Стари Сланкамен, German ( outdated ): Old - Slankamen, Hungarian Szalánkemén, also Zalánkemén and Sztari Szlankamen, Turkish Salankamen ) is a small community in the Opština Inđija, in the Serbian province of Vojvodina, in the eastern Syrmia.
Geography
Stari Slankamen is located east-southeast of Novi Sad on the right bank of the Danube. Opposite the town flows into the river Tisza with the Danube.
Etymology
Slankamen means to German salt stone.
Population
In 1991, the share of the Croatian population was 38.78 %.
