Stary Kostrzynek

Stary Kostrzynek (German Altcüstrinchen ) is a Polish village in Gmina Cedynia in powiat Gryfiński. The village has 104 inhabitants (as of 2007 ). It is situated on the Oder ( pl.Odra ) and thus directly on the border with Germany, about 2 km from the border crossing point of Hohenwutzen after Osinów Dolny (German Niederwutzen ) away.

The place was first in 1299 " The Custrineken " mentioned in the form. The main source of income of residents was traditional fisheries. Already at the beginning of the nineteenth century lived in 87 households with 704 inhabitants. Through the battles at the end of the Second World War, there was considerable destruction of many buildings. The best preserved part of the village is the southern section.

The narrow-gauge railway opened in 1930 Freiwalde - Zehden had a railway station Old Küstrinchen ( in this notation ), which was later renamed John Mill. 1945, the tracks were dismantled.
