Stefan Hübner

Stefan Hübner ( born June 13, 1975 in Bielefeld ) is a German national volleyball player and multiple volleyball players of the year.

Career

Huebner began with the volleyball game as a nine- year-old in Hamburg at the 1st SC Norderstedt. As a teenager, the native of Bielefeld joined Eimsbuetteler TV. For this club Hübner also played in the second division. In 1994 he returned to the 1st SC Norderstedt. There he played for the first time in the 1st Bundesliga. The following season, the middle blocker for the Moers SC opened. Two years later, he took part with the senior national team at the European Championship in the Netherlands. In 1998 he moved to SCC Berlin, with whom he won the 2000 DVV Cup. He then went to Italy. In Loreto, Montichiari and finally Trentino he developed into one of the best middle blockers in the strong Italian league. The German fans rewarded his services by electing him in 1998 and 1999 as well as 2001 and 2002 for volleyball players of the year. However, in 2005 he had to end his career for the time being due to multiple injuries. Together with Thomas Kröger, he formed a new duo in beach volleyball. In addition, he worked for the German vice-champion evivo Düren as an assistant coach and annotated at the premiere Champions League matches of the German clubs. In the spring of 2006 he returned to the hall and played one season at his previous club Itas Diatec Trentino. He was also recalled to the national team, with which he completed his next big tournament at the World Cup in Japan and finished ninth. At the European Championships in Russia in 2007, the team finished fifth. From 2007 to 2009 Huebner played at Sisley Treviso. With the national team he reached at the Olympic Games in Beijing in August 2008 to ninth place. With the 2009/10 season in Perugia Hübner finished as Challenge Cup winner his Italian career abroad. After a two year break he gave in September 2010 his comeback to the national team, the World Cup in Italy but had to cancel due to injury.

In June 2010 he signed a two -year contract with German Bundesliga evivo Düren, in which he should get involved in supporting the sponsors and marketing. He could through his injury but only in March 2011, towards the end of the Bundesliga Main Round 2010/11, for the first time are on the field for Düren. In January 2012, because of persistent injury problems Hübner announced his retirement from competitive sports.

Since November 2011 was Hübner assistant coach of the men of the German national volleyball team, and since April 2012 also co- coach of Belgian club Noliko Maaseik.

Since the 2013/14 season Stefan Hübner has been head coach at second division TSG Solingen volleys.

Private

In April 2012, married Stefan Hübner his longtime girlfriend Angelina green.
