Webs [ steə ] is the capital of the Danish island of Møn and has 3826 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013 ) .. webs Sogn, the parish church of the city, is one of three parishes on Møn.
The three-nave St. Hans Kirke goes back to a Romanesque building from the 12th century. 1460-1525 it was enlarged in the Gothic style. Interesting frescoes in the choir of Kirke.
Main shopping street of the city is the Storegade (translated: " Great Road ").
Tuesdays in July and the first Tuesday in August (2013 for the fortieth time ) Tuesday Market ( Danish Tirsdags Marked ) takes place, which is partly also marketed under the name " webs Festival ".
History
Origin of the town was built by the Danish king Valdemar in 1175 Stegehus castle.
From the former city fortifications which today only the Mill Gate ( Mølleporten ) is obtained at the northern exit of the town. The ditch beside the gate was filled with water. In 1268 lands became a city.
At the end of the Middle Ages lands became wealthy through the herring fishing in the Baltic Sea to Møn, which provided nearly one-third the total Danish consumption.
1510 and 1522 webs of Lübeck was attacked, but could not be taken due to his city fortifications.
