At the junction of Steina in the Valley of the Wutach, about 1 km upstream of the mouth, the river bed runs in meanders through a small canyon on a porous and eroded limestone formation in which some of the water seeps. At low tide, a section of the river can fall completely dry. The river bed consists of the main shell. The geologist Rudolf Metz described therein lies a 5 cm thick quartz- rich bank with pyrite crystals. The Lost at the percolation point Äule Steinawasser in strong karst springs occurs in the hanging wall on the right bank of the Wutach at the fish farm (now nursery ) from.
