The stones mountain (1683 m) is a mountain of Nagelfluhkette in the Allgäu Alps. The relatively easily accessible vantage point above the Iller Valley is considered one of the most popular summit goals in this region. The stones mountain is part of the Natural Park Nagelfluhkette international project. The Vertical separation of stones mountain is at least 83 meters, its dominance 2.1 kilometers, the mountain is Stuiben reference respectively.

Ascent

Route: Immenstadt - Steigbachtal - Mittagberg - Steineberg (duration about 3 hours): The summit can over a short via ferrata ( fixed rope route since about 2009 due to mudslide blocked) and an approximately 17 m long ladder be achieved. However, these obstacles can be avoided also. The rise can be shortened by the use of the midday train. From the mountain station of the midday ( 1419 m), the well-developed normal route to the rocky summit of the mountain stones. When wet, however, the last part of the normal path along the north Abbruches the top plate is better to avoid. The direct ascent allows a steel ladder under the cross on the summit (1660 m). About 300 meters west of the steel ladder that is the true summit of the mountain stones. The grass knoll rises again about 20 m above the summit cross.

The transition to Stuiben requires sure-footedness and freedom, the path provides insights into the geology of the Nagelfluhkette. Just before the descent to the Gund -Alpe, the path leads through a secured rope, steep rock face. From the Gund -Alpe may be descended in about two hours back to Immenstadt.

From Gunzesried ( 889 m) also performs a about three hours long route via the Alpe lower church on the mountain stones.

In the course of Nagelfluh balancing act with Hochgrat (1834 m), Rindalphorn (1822 m), Buralpkopf (1772 m) and Stuiben (1749 m) mountain of stones is exceeded.

Bergmesse

A Mountain Fair is held annually in late August at the summit cross of stone mountain. It is organized by the Trachtenverein Stoineberglar and the parish council Immenstadt -Bühl - Rough cell and musically accompanied by a delegation of the band Akams.
