Stelian Moculescu

Stelian Moculescu ( born May 6, 1950 in Braşov (Kronstadt), Romania) is the coach of the volleyball Bundesliga side VfB Friedrichshafen and coach of the Romanian men's national team. From 1999 to 2008 he was the coach of the German men's national team.

Career

A native of Romania won in his home country as a player numerous championships and trophies. In 1972, he participated as a Romanian national team in the Olympic Games in Munich in part, sat down on September 11, there by his crew and remained in West Germany. His coaching career began in Germany Moculescu 1977 as player-coach at TSV 1860 München, with whom he won the 1978 and 1980 double. In the season 1982/83 he worked in the same capacity at the VC Passau. He then took over the office of the Bavarian regional trainer until 1986. A year later, he returned as a full-time coach back to Munich. When he assumed the post of national coach, a position he held until 1990 initially. Then he went for a season to TSV Milbertshofen. From 1992 to 1997 he worked for the ASV Dachau, before he moved to his present club VfB Friedrichshafen. From 1999 up to the 2008 Olympics, he was in personal union as national coach. Success as a coach

Moculescu led the German national team at the 2001 European Championships in the Czech Republic and in Germany in 2003 and the 2006 World Cup in Japan. Under his leadership, succeeded for the first time since 1972 to participate in the Olympic volleyball tournament, where he placed ninth in August 2008 in Beijing.

He was appointed as club coach so far 17 times German Champion (1978, 1980, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1998-2002, 2005-2011 ) and won 18 times the DVV Cup ( 1978-1980, 1982, 1990, 1997-1999, 2001 -2008, 2012, 2014 ). With the VfB Friedrichshafen he repeatedly attained the final of the Champions League. In the 2006/07 season, VfB Friedrichshafen won under the leadership of Stelian Moculescu the first German club, the " Triple" ( German Championship, DVV Cup and Champions League). In recognition of his services to the volleyball Moculescu received the 2007 Volleyball Award, which is awarded since 2006.
