Stephen Elop

Stephen Elop ( born December 31, 1963 in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada ) is a Canadian manager. He was from 21 September 2010 to 3 September 2013 as the successor of Mr. Kallasvuo the first non- Finn as President and Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of Nokia. Since his retirement as CEO of Nokia, he is head of the mobile division which will be sold to Microsoft in 2014.

Training

Elop has earned a bachelor's degree in computer science engineering and management from McMaster University in Hamilton, a city in the Canadian province of Ontario.

Career

Elop was CEO of Macromedia. Following the acquisition of his company by Adobe in 2005 he assumed responsibility for worldwide distribution and sales activities by Adobe Systems. Then Elop was Chief Operating Officer ( COO) at Juniper Networks, a provider of network infrastructure and partner of Microsoft. In January 2008, he became president of Microsoft's business customers department and was involved as part of the highest management of Microsoft on the general strategy development, Microsoft. 2010 went Elop as CEO of Nokia and will change in the course of the acquisition of Nokia's mobile phone division in 2014 back to Microsoft.
