Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks

Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks is a Portland, Oregon indie rock band to play at the Stephen Malkmus, Mike Clark, Joanna Bolme and Jake Morris. Malkmus was a songwriter, singer and guitarist of Pavement, one of the most influential indie rock bands of the 1990s.

History

After Stephen Malkmus Pavement had left in 1999, he founded the Jicks by dedicated Joanna Bolme, Mike Clark and John Moen. Justine Frischmann of Elastica was as guitarist in conversation, but could not attend in time to the band activities. Originally wanted the bands Malkmus The Jicks call, the music label Matador Records sat down, however, by Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. ( The debut album and Faith the Truth even conceal the band's name and name as a band name only " Stephen Malkmus ", although all the band members have played in the recordings. ) The first album of the band appeared on 13 February 2001 and is called " Stephen Malkmus ". Some of the songs already Malkmus wrote while he was still playing with Pavement.

The second album is called Pig Lib and appeared in 2003. The songs are longer, seem to psychedelic and contain extensive complex guitar solos. The Jicks played in the same year as the opening act for Radiohead on their U.S. tour. The All Tomorrow 's Parties ( Festival) " The Director's Cut Weekend Two" from 2nd to 4th April 2004 curated by Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks and Sonic Youth.

The third album Face the Truth was released in 2005.

The fourth album, Real Emotional Trash appeared on 4 March 2008 and was very well received.

Joanna Bolme 2011 had a guest appearance in the comedy series Portlandia as wife of the mayor of Portland (Ep. 4/1).

The fifth album from the Jicks Mirror Traffic appeared on 23 August 2011, which was produced by Beck Hansen. Shortly before its publication rose Janet Weiss and Jake Morris of Portland, Oregon band The Joggers took its place.
