Stephen Merchant

Stephen Merchant ( * November 24, 1974 in Bristol, England ) is a British writer, director and actor. Along with Ricky Gervais, he created the successful British pseudo - documentary series The Office.

Life

1997 Merchant got a job at London radio station Xfm, to cooperate with the local Head of Speech Ricky Gervais. A little later both were given their own show on Sunday evening. As early as 1998, however, were laid off again, as the Capital Radio Group took over the station Merchant and Gervais.

In the summer of 2001, the first season of The Office at the British television station BBC Two was seen. A little later, Merchant and Gervais were again set at Xfm and discovered there the talent of Karl Pilkington.

The sitcom from Merchant and Gervais, Extras, was first aired on 21 July 2005 on BBC Two. Merchant plays the role of the role of Darren Lamb, the agent of Andy Millman, played by Gervais.

In 2007, he starred alongside Simon Pegg in by David Schwimmer comedy film Run, Fatboy, Run and Edgar Wright's Hot Fuzz.
