Stephen Sunday

Stephen Sunday Obayan ( born September 17, 1988 in Lagos, Nigeria), better known by his stage name Sunny or Sunny Obayan, is a Nigerian- Spanish footballer.

Career

In his native Nigeria Sunday played in various clubs before he with his club FC Ebedei participated in two youth tournaments in Sweden and Spain in 2003. The last of the two took place in Madrid and he convinced there so that Polideportivo Ejido signed him. Back in 2005, signed "Sunny" his first professional contract with the second division. He immediately became a regular player and played a total of 55 appearances for his club. Due to its good performance some top European teams were interested and could be observed Sunday. Among other things, Liverpool FC, Real Madrid, Deportivo La Coruña, FC Valencia, Real Betis and Napoli wanted to sign him. He decided in the summer of 2007 for the FC Valencia. There, however, he did not get beyond the reserve player and was eventually awarded in the 2008 /09 season. Another year later, in the second half of the 2010/11 season, he was loaned until the end of the season second division CD Numancia. There he played in stem formation and was finally fitted in summer 2011 with a permanent contract.

National

Although Sunday is a native Nigerian, he opted for the Spanish national team aground. There he came so far only in the youth teams to use. With the U -20, he took part in Canada at the U -20 World Cup 2007.

In line with the FIFA Statutes, he could decide again when choosing the senior team. As he had no chance of a nomination in the Spanish team, he decided to play for his home country. He had his first use in qualifying for the 2012 African Cup against Guinea.
