Steve Carney

Steve Carney ( born September 22, 1957 in Wallsend, † 6 May 2013) was an English footballer. The defender was active for Newcastle United, Carlisle United, Darlington FC, AFC Rochdale and Hartlepool United.

Life and work

Steve Carney was initially electrician by profession and played part-time football at the West Bromwich Albion. In 1979, Steve Carney of the Blyth Spartans to Newcastle United. In Carney's first game on December 1, Newcastle United won 2-0 against Fulham FC in the Football League Second Division 1979 /80. 1985 Carney left Newcastle United and joined the Darlington FC. While Steve was playing part-time football, he became a successful businessman in the real estate market. After Steve stopped playing football, he was 13 years of managing the sale of English homes. In January 2011, Carney offered to work as a personal fitness trainer. After it became known on February 16, 2013, that Steve Carney was suffering from pancreatic cancer, he passed away after a short battle against the disease on 6 May 2013 aged 55 years.
