Steve Kelly

R. Steven Kelly ( born October 26, 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who was under contract with HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the Austrian Hockey League until October 2009.

Career

After three years with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League Kelly was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995. He stayed a year in Prince Albert and shone there with over 100 points scorer.

From the 1996/97 season he played for the Oilers, but was mostly used in the farm team. Even after his move in late 1997 for the Tampa Bay Lightning did not change that. His journey through the NHL led him to the New Jersey Devils and Los Angeles Kings, but nowhere he managed to become a regular player. Kelly completed a total of 163 games in the National Hockey League and scored twelve goals.

2004 changed the striker from the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL to the German record champion of the German Ice Hockey League, the Adler Mannheim. A year later, Kelly then moved to arch rivals the eagle, the German Champion of 2004, the Frankfurt Lions. This was due to the suspension of Kelly after an altercation with then coach Stephane Richer Eagle. In Frankfurt, the Canadian striker signed with the number 19 one-year contract.

In the summer of 2007, he joined the Minnesota Wild, but could there not prevail in training camp and had in the American Hockey League to the Houston Aeros, the farm team of the game. Before the season 2008/09, Kelly moved to the Columbus Blue Jackets, but could there like last year do not qualify for the NHL roster and started the season with the farm team of the Blue Jackets, the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. At the start of the 2009/10 season played at Kelly HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the Austrian Hockey League. After an injury early in the season, the Slovenes broke the contract in October to financial reasons.
