Stewart Maxwell

Stewart Maxwell ( born December 24, 1963 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Life

Maxwell attended King 's Park Secondary School and the Glasgow College of Technology, where he earned a bachelor's degree in social sciences. He is married and has one daughter.

Political career

1992 Maxwell joined the SNP. In 1999 he ran for the Regional Council of East Renfrewshire, but was not elected. In the British general election of 2001, Maxwell applied for the direct mandate of the constituency Eastwood, but received only 8.6 % of the votes and missed so much a place in the British House of Commons.

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 2003 Maxwell candidate in the constituency Eastwood, but only got the fourth highest share of the vote. Because Maxwell was also placed on the third rank of the Regional Evaluation of the SNP for the election Region West of Scotland, he received as a result of the election results is one of three list seats for the SNP in this election region and moved for the first time in the Scottish Parliament. In September 2004 he was appointed deputy party spokesman on health. In the shadow cabinet of SNP Maxwell was provided at this time as deputy assistant secretary for health.
