Štiavnické Bane

Štiavnické Bane ( to 1948 Slovak " Piarg "; German Siegelsberg, Hungarian Hegybánya - to 1892 Pjerg / Pierg ) is a town in central Slovakia Kraj Banská Bystrica. It is located in the Selmec mountains, about 5 km from Banská Štiavnica.

The village was first mentioned in 1352 as Sygluspergh. The village has Roman Catholic Church of St. Joseph from 1734 and a chapel of St. John of Nepomuk. In the area there are reservoirs built in the 18th century - the so-called tajchy (sing. tajch; German pond). On the area of the municipality are six tajchy. In 1948, the place of the " slowakischeren " to " German " sounding name Piarg in the name Štiavnické Bane has been renamed.
