Stoczniowiec Gdańsk ( German " Gdansk shipyard workers "; Complete name: Gdański club Sportowy Stoczniowiec ) is a Polish ice hockey team from Gdansk, which was founded in 1970.

History

Stoczniowiec Gdańsk was founded in 1970. At the Playoff Final, the highest Polish league, the team first participated in the 1976/77 season. In the aftermath Stoczniowiec was a regular participant in the Playoff Final, but was unable to reach greater success in the league. In the years 2003, 2007 and 2008, the team was from Gdansk each in the finals of the Polish Ice Hockey Cup, but had in all three cases, the enemy defeated. Prior to the 2011/12 season, the club drew his first team return for financial reasons from playing the Playoff Final and has since then only a youth department.

At the European level Stoczniowiec Gdańsk participated in the 2003/04 season in part as one of two Polish representatives at the IIHF Continental Cup. In this, however, the team was eliminated in the first round, when they finished the third of four courses in Group E. The group opponents were the HK Riga 2000 from Latvia, Kasachmys Karaganda Kazakhstan and SC Energia Elektrėnai from Lithuania. In the 2004/05 season the team took part in the one-off discharged Baltic Ice Hockey Cup, the could win it.
