Stoycho Vassilev Breskovski

Stoicho Breskovski Vassilev ( Bulgarian Стойчо Василев Бресковски, Stoitscho Wassilew Breskowski; born December 25, 1934 in Granite, Stara Zagora, Bulgaria; † January 15, 2004 in Sofia, Bulgaria) was a Bulgarian paleontologist.

His father Vassil Breskovski was a teacher and later lecturer, the mother Parashkeva Breskovska was a teacher in Plovdiv. Stoicho attended from 1948 the school. 1953-1958 studied Breskovski Geology in Sofia Kliment Ohridski at the University. He earned his doctorate in 1974 with Professor Vassil Tzankov and habilitated in 1981. Breskovski From 1975 to 1995 was curator and Research Fellow of the paleontological collection of the Museum of Natural History in Sofia. From 2001 until his death he worked at the Museum of Paleontology at the University of Sofia. Stoicho Breskovski died after a long heart disease in 70 years.

Breskovskis specialty were the ammonites of the Cretaceous ( Barremian ). He was also very interested in the implications of paleontological research for the theory of evolution, paleoecology, geochronology and chronostratigraphy. Worth he made also to establish contacts with colleagues from Europe, especially from France.
