Sturgeon Lake (Ontario)

Sturgeon Lake (English for " Sturgeon Lake " ) is a lake in the Canadian province of Ontario.

He belongs to the group of lakes of the Kawartha Lakes. He is also part of the Trent -Severn Waterway. The lake has a Y -shaped configuration. The following municipalities are located on the lake: Fenelon Falls at the northwest end, Lindsay at the south end, Sturgeon Point on the headland between Northwest and Nordostarm of the lake, and Bobcaygeon at the northeastern end of the lake. The lake measures from the southern to the north-eastern end of the longer axis, about 25 km.

Inflows and outflows

The Scugog River forms the drainage of the southern Lake Scugog and ends at the south end in the Sturgeon Lake. The Fenelon River drains the Cameron Lake and flows on the northwest shore in the Sturgeon Lake. The Emily Creek flows to the Sea in the south.

The outflow of Sturgeon Lake, the two channels " Big Bob " and "Little Bob " of the Bobcaygeon River at the northeastern end. The water flows from the eastern Pigeon Lake.

Fauna

Among the edible fish in the Sturgeon Lake include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskellunge and walleye.
