Stuttgart-Rohr–Filderstadt railway

The railway line Stuttgart-Rohr - Filderstadt is an electrified double-track main line and mainly in Baden- Württemberg. It branches from the Stuttgart district of pipe from the Gäubahn and via Oberaichen, Leinfelden, Echterdingen and the Stuttgart airport to Bern Hausen, a district of Filderstadt.

History

The section of pipe Echterdingen was built as part of relief work in 1920 by the Deutsche Reichsbahn to tie the privately operated Filderbahn - stretch Echterdingen Filderstadt better to the national railway network. The line was opened on 1 October 1920, the trains of the Reichsbahn perverted through to Neuhausen. In this way, the passengers through compounds could be offered without change in Degerloch. From Echterdingen the train services were performed here on behalf of the Stuttgart trams AG, which operated the Filderbahn since 1920, and to which they legally belonged since 1934. 1928 nor was added a branch line to Forest book, Siebenmuehlental train named range chain in Leinfelden of the treated route from here.

For the construction of the federal highway 8 and the airport Stuttgart was laid off in 1934 to a branching-off between Echterdingen and Bernhausen freight terminal and construction track, which led temporarily along the resulting motorway route until shortly before Denkendorf and also to supply the airport with construction materials and goods, even after its completion in 1939 served. Since the German Reichsbahn for this large-scale construction presented partially own technicians available, you wore this fact in later times, however, the allegation that it did ultimately recovered its own competitiveness. The route of the Filderbahn to Bernshausen 1937 east of the station Echterdingen pivoted to drive around the airport area to the south, today's S -Bahn route follows, however, largely again to the former siding.

1955, passenger traffic was switched to the railway line Stuttgart-Rohr - Echterdingen ( Neuhausen ) and on the Siebenmuehlental car to bus operation, the route was henceforth operated only freight traffic. The supply of aviation fuel and other goods by rail has been abandoned since the late 1960s, when the Echterdinger connection route planning for the new State Road 27 had to give way and use the southern terminal on the military part of the airport by the opposition of the U.S. Army did not materialize. On 28 May 1983, the freight on the Leinfelden- Neuhausen section has been set and the tracks on the owned by the SSB route part of Echterdingen to Neuhausen soon dislodged, the rails on the DB 's own part Leinfelden followed as part of the preparations for construction for the S -Bahn few years later. As definitely last train on the original route before reopening as S -Bahn paid in September 1985 during a special trip to the inauguration of the S -Bahn to Stuttgart - Vaihingen Uerdinger Schienenbus Echterdingen a visit. On the rest of section pipe Leinfelden but found until the early 1990s continue sporadically shunting instead. They served mainly established in Leinfelden companies, but also transports building materials for the S -Bahn construction were among them. For the S -Bahn, the line was expanded to double track from the mid- 1980s, electrified and placed in sections deeper. Furthermore curves were straightened. Between Echterdingen and the airport a new route was built.

The preliminary draft of the Stuttgart S-Bahn the project of Filderstadt - speed railway between Stuttgart -Vaihingen and the airport with calculated construction costs of 47 million DM (price level: 1966 ) was included. Here, a two-pronged expansion, an extension to the airport and electrification from Stuttgart-Rohr was provided. The project will be implemented in two phases in the years 1976 to 1978.

Current usage

Since 27 May 1989, the Stuttgart S -Bahn to Oberaichen, it was extended to the airport and since 29 September 2001, it runs on single-track route continues to Filderstadt -Bernhausen on 18 April 1993. The new station is underground, however, partially glazed upwards. Unlike originally provided no freight will be held today between the pipe and Leinfelden. A 1993 mitgebaute bridge in Leinfelden is unused to this day, she was scheduled for a siding.

For tunnel support a total 356.7 million DM were invested. Of these, 260 million DM from S -Bahn funds were covered.

Stuttgart 21

As part of the Stuttgart 21 project will take (each sum of both directions) on the track next to the now trains running on the route up to 148 suburban trains per day 62 long-distance and regional trains. The route is intended to occur Hauptbahnhof take the place of Gäubahn in the section between Stuttgart-Rohr and Stuttgart.

About the planned under the project Rohrer curve the route to Stuttgart - tube is to be connected in the future with the Gäubahn also towards the south. A necessary for the use of the course by distance and regional traffic exemption to the airport tunnel is controversial.

In Ostkopf the airport railway station a two-tier connection to the new Stuttgart - Wendlingen Stuttgart Central Station is to be made on the airport curve.

For the zoning section 1.3 of the Stuttgart 21 project, which also includes the new and expansion projects along the railway line pipe Filderstadt include the planning approval process in October 2002 was requested. The scrutiny in the further course of the process interpretation of inferiority is still pending.

Be between the Rohrer curve and the airport, depending on the route section for the year 2025, daily 25200-36100 traveler expects ( sum of both directions). This represents an increase of over 2010 6400-10600 travelers. On the section between the airport and Filderstadt is expected to decline by 200 to 8100 travelers. The extension of the line to Neuhausen is not taken into account in the forecast.

S-Bahn extension to Neuhausen

The S- Bahn line to be extended until the end of 2019 to Neuhausen. Within a 3.9 km long Neubaubaschnitts be built also a stop in Sielmingen. The planned costs amount to EUR 83.5 million. Due to synergies with the planned extension of the U6 - Stuttgart trams AG should be entrusted with the realization; first time in the history of the Stuttgart S-Bahn would be entrusted with a mains extension measure is not the German railway. There is provided a half hour. The calculated under the Standardised assessment benefit -cost ratio is 1.1. An adequate cost is given only in the context of the planned 21 Stuttgart Filderstadt station. On the extended portion 7000 passengers per day are expected.

A angedachte continuation of the Neckar valley is connected, according to the Association of Regions Stuttgart with great technical difficulties. Among other things, was to tunnel under and connectivity of the route at Denkendorf consuming Neuhausen.
