Old branch Südaue

It is to the original course of the river, the first passing through the downtown Wunstorf in the course and ( thus based = on the course of Westaue below Wunstorf ) gives off its waters in Blumenau in the Westaue. This original course has been withdrawn by the construction of a channel-like connection to Westaue ( opening out above Wunstorf ) in the course of extensive Aueregulierung a major portion of its water masses. Together with other hydraulic engineering measures the risk of early frequent floods in downtown Wunstorf was hereby banned.
