Südliches Höllhorn

Höfats summit ( 2259 m), Southern and Northern Höllhorn ( 2145 m)

Pd2

The Southern Höllhorn is a 2145 meter high mountain in the Allgäu Alps. Located just south of Hornbachjochs and north of the Northern Höllhorns.

Together with the Northern Höllhorn called the two crags often Höllhörner. From certain points of view such as the Älpelesattel the two peaks look very similar to two curved horns.

In the Southern Höllhorn leads no marked path. The easiest ascent crosses under the east wall to the north and performs on the north side of the summit. This way too, already requires mountaineering experience. The directly at Hornbachjoch incipient south ridge is one of the most popular climbs in the Allgäu Alps. Despite the brevity of the route has some interesting climbs, but also brittle rock.

The previously existing Spreizstelle of falls must be bypassed by a rock excavation in the 1990s.

For all the climbs Hornbachjoch is the starting point.
