Sukhoi Su-31

The Sukhoi Su -31 (Russian Сухой Су -31) is a single-seat Russian sports aircraft and is a development of the Su -26 dar.

Development

The OKB Sukhoi developed an improved two-seat version of the Su -26 under the designation Su- 29, which, inter alia, from the Su -26 differed by the lowered rear fuselage in half shell construction. In parallel, a designated as Su- 29T single-seater was developed which was later renamed Su- 31T.

The aerobatic and test pilot Jurgis Kairys Sukhoi led on 22 June 1992 maiden flight of the Su- 31T. Since 1994, the Su -31 is produced in series.

Description

The Su -31 is a single seat aerobatic aircraft in composite half-shell shape. The straight wings are arranged in low-wing design, the elevator is on the tail end. The cockpit sits behind the wings. It has a fixed landing gear with tail wheel. The roll rate is 7 rad / sec ( about 400 degrees per second ), the load limit in the turn is at 12 and -10 g The ratio of weight and propeller thrust is approximately one, so that the Su -31 is able to in a vertical attitude, much like a helicopter " to hang on the propeller ."

The machine is equipped with a rescue system of the type SKS -94.

Anton Berkutov from Russia flown to in 2012 with a Su- 31M the world title in aerobatics.
