Sully Erna

Salvatore Paul " Sully " Erna ( born February 7, 1968 in Lawrence, Massachusetts) is an American singer, guitarist and drummer. He is the lead singer of the band Godsmack and played previously with Strip Mind and Meliah Rage.

Career

Erna began playing the drums at the age of three years. As a teenager, he played in several bands before he moved as a 18- year-old with his mother in North Carolina. In 1992, he joined the band Meliah Rage, which he left a few years later. Some demo recordings with Erna were published in 2002 under the title Unfinished Business. At the same time, he played with the band Strip Mind, which released their only album What's in Your Mouth in 1993.

In 1995, Erna founded the band Godsmack, where he also took over the vocals. Of necessity played Erna on the published 1997 Eigenpressung debut album, All Wound Up also the drums one after the actual drummer Joe Darko left the band before the recordings. With the entry of Tommy Stewart to Erna has been concentrating on the singing and occurs at times also as a guitarist and harmonica player. With Godsmack, Erna published so far released five studio albums and sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Four times the band was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Since 2006, Erna working as a solo artist and in 2010 released his first solo album Avalon. In addition, Erna was seen in the TV shows Criss Angel Mindfreak and Dirt. In 2009 he made ​​a guest appearance in the music video White Trash Circus by Motley Crue. Two years earlier, Erna published his autobiography, The Path We Choose.
