The Kota Bharu Airport is the only airport in the Malaysian city of Kota Bharu and the largest in the northern state of Kelantan. Several times a day to operate the three largest Malaysian Airlines scheduled flights to Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

The new, modern passenger terminal building went into operation in 2002 and be able to handle 1.4 million passengers annually. The L- shaped building is equipped with check -in hall, baggage claim, shops and catering facilities, and three passenger boarding bridges. The architecture of the two -story building served in many places local and Islamic architectural elements.

The airport area extends in a west-east direction, about 7 kilometers from the city center. A four-lane Schnellstrase closes the airport on to the municipal road network. The apron and the terminal are located north of the runway, less than two kilometers from the coast to the South China Sea. Two taxiways connect so far the only advance with the single airstrip. West of the main apron is a flight school, the tower near the parking lot east of the passenger building. A new advance is located in mid-2008 to the east of the existing facilities under construction.
