Summerhill (TTC)

Summerhill is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Yonge- University - Spadina line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of Yonge Street and Shaftesbury Avenue. The station has side platforms, is used daily by an average of 5,920 passengers (2009 /10).

The opening of the station on 30 March 1954 together with the portion Union - Eglinton Yonge Subway, the oldest subway on Canadian soil. Summer Hill was originally in an incision, but was covered by 1970. There is a transfer possibility to a bus route.

Summer Hill is one of the lowest traffic stations of the entire network. The reason for this is the low density of development and the lack of significant cross- roads. In the immediate vicinity, however, is the disused railway station Summerhill - North Toronto of the Canadian Pacific Railway. There are plans to reopen the station and thereby relieve the Union Station; Summerhill would increase significantly as a transfer station in importance.
