Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach [ sɫɤntʃɛf brjak ] (also written Slanchev bryag, Bulgarian Слънчев бряг, literally: ' sunny coast ', known in Germany as the sun beach ) is a Bulgarian resort on the Black Sea in the Bay of Nessebar in the northern part of the Gulf of Burgas. Sunny beach is the largest tourist destination in the country and is managed as a national health resort of the Bulgarian government, the municipality of Nessebar and representatives of the hotel owner. The nearest large city is the provincial capital Burgas, located approximately 38 kilometers south.

1989 decreed the seaside resort of over 108 hotels with over 27,000 beds and more than 130 restaurants. Today there are several hundred restaurants, bars and pubs, and at least 800 Hotels ( the majority was built in the early 2000s ) in which over 200,000 people can be accommodated. The beach is eight kilometers long and up to 100 meters wide. To the south is the sun with beach Nessebar, respectively Rawda and grown together in the north to Saint Vlas. Sun beach is known for its intense nightlife with numerous bars, pubs and clubs and especially in younger people popular.

The beach sun is just like the other tourist hotspots Albena and Golden beach in winter almost deserted.

In sun beach there is a kindergarten, a primary school and a secondary school tourism.

Traffic

The nearest airports are Burgas ( 25 km) and Varna (100 km ), with an arrival date from the latter via a two-lane mountain pass through the Balkan Mountains, and may take up to three hours by car. The route Burgas - Pomorie Nessebar - Sunny beach is mostly two lanes (as of June 2012). It is the main route for the arrival and departure of tourists in the regions north of Burgas as well as an important national and international road between Burgas and Varna and between the Bulgarian-Turkish and the Bulgarian- Romanian border ( European route 87). Therefore, it may lead to congestion in the summer months on this route. A four-lane expressway, which is to relieve traffic congestion, is under construction and should be completed in 2014. Furthermore, sun beach to be connected to the planned Black Sea highway.

Regular bus services to all major cities of Bulgaria are handled by the bus station ( Awtogara ). Bus to Burgas ( approx 30 min ) take place every half hour and are offered by several providers. In the summer time are also offered hourly bus trips to Sofia (the trip takes about 6 hours) and Plovdiv (the trip takes about 4 hours).

Sun beach is like Nessebar not connected to the Bulgarian rail network. The nearest railway station is located in Burgas ( → Transport in Burgas ), across from the Southern Bus Terminal ( Awtogara jug ).
