Supertram (Sheffield)

Sheffield Supertram called a modern tram network in Sheffield, England. It is 30.5 km long and connects the city center to Middlewood and Malin Bridge to the northwest, Meadowhall in the northeast, Herdings Park and Halfway to the southeast. The track width is 1435 mm.

The construction of the network began in 1991. The first section was opened on 21 March 1994. The time being last section was put into operation on 23 October 1995. Expansion plans include new routes before after Rotherham, Dore, Fulwood and Maltby.

There are three lines.

  • Yellow line: Middlewood - Hillsborough - Cathedral - Arena - Meadowhall Interchange
  • Blue line: Malin Bridge - Hillsborough - Cathedral - Sheffield Station - Gleadless Townend - Halfway
  • Purple Line: Herdings Park - Gleadless Townend - Sheffield Station - Cathedral ( in rush hour on to Arena - Meadowhall Interchange)
