Susan Waffa-Ogoo

Susan Waffa - Ogoo ( born October 4, 1960 in Banjul) is a Gambian politician.

Life

After her schooling from 1967 to 1978 Susan Waffa - Ogoo studied from 1982 to 1983 at the University of Ghana. The years 1983 to 1987 she spent at Loughborough University, where she studied library science and English literature. Previously, she was a teacher and librarian from 1978 to 1979 at the Gambian St. Joseph's High School. Then she made up in 1994 as a librarian at the Gambia College career until she went into the civil service.

Susan Waffa - Ogoo is the longest-serving minister in the Cabinet of President Yahya Jammeh. From 1994, after the coup by Lieutenant Jammeh, she led the Ministry of Tourism and Culture ( Secretary of State for Tourism and Culture ). In the period from 2000 to 2004 she was Minister for Fisheries, Natural Resources and Environment. On 15 September 2004 she was awarded the department of tourism back.

As part of her work as tourism minister, she has been campaigning for several visits abroad and at tourism trade fairs for their country and presented the culture of their country. Through their efforts they had reached that a television commercial on CNN International was shown in which the Gambian tourism is promoted. She was also instrumental in the development of the two-year Roots Homecoming Festival.

On 25 October 2006 she was appointed as part of a cabinet reshuffle, the Ministry Commerce, Industry and Trade, which she held until she Jammeh surprisingly dismissed from office on February 20. Successor in the department was from 24 February 2007 Abdou Kolley.

In March 2008 and April 2008, she was diagnosed as an ambassador and represented Gambia in India. From 21 April 2008, she was the permanent representative at the United Nations in New York. Since 1 December 2012, she is Secretary of State.

Susan Waffa - Ogoo is married and has two children.
